W/O/R/K

A ritual for our times. An experience for hundreds of people at a time.

In 2017, IDFA DocLab invited Anagram to collaborate with the Dutch group the Smartphone Orchestra to develop this mobile experience and bring the audience together in a beautiful and original way.

W/O/R/K is an extraordinary collective experience that explores what hundreds of people in one room can do together using only their smartphones.

A parody of popular team-building exercises and inspirational videos that help us become better, W/O/R/K is the product of a society bent on mastering love and compassion for the benefit of greater economic gain.

The experience uses a software system built by The Smartphone Orchestra – which enables multiple sound channels to play across hundreds of smartphones at the same time in the same place. In W/O/R/K, the audience is cunningly invited to sing together – following instructions played to them through their own phone.
